  • 9:45: Introduction to the TIC Council Laboratory Safety Code: During the inaugural Safety Conference in 2018, the TIC Council received valuable feedback from the petroleum industry, resulting in the creation of the well-received Field Inspection Safety Code. Now, after years of extensive discussions and ongoing feedback, we take pride in introducing the next addition to our best practices guidance: the Laboratory Safety Code! This session will serve as an introduction to this document and its objectives, highlighting it as a tangible outcome directly stemming from our conferences.
  • 10:15: Fuelling the Future: Safe Handling and Awareness of Alternative Fuels: As the world rapidly progresses toward a cleaner, more sustainable future, exciting developments in low-carbon alternative fuels are charting the course for a more sustainable tomorrow. Amidst these positive transformations, it is of paramount importance not to overlook an equally crucial facet: safety! This session will engage in discussions regarding the safe handling and safety awareness surrounding alternative low-carbon fuels. They will draw upon the valuable lessons gleaned from the introduction of LNG to the market and evaluate the challenges presented by hydrogen, ammonia, and other biofuels.

  • 13:30: Back to Basics Protocols: As vast and intricate as the petroleum industry may be, there is one universal objective that unites us all: ensuring that every individual returns home safely at the end of each day. This session of our International Safety Conference will be led by prominent industry experts specializing in safety within the petroleum inspection sector. It will primarily focus on a series of presentations that delve into the essential safety protocols constituting the bedrock of safety practices within the petroleum industry. The topics covered will encompass a wide spectrum, ranging from personal protective equipment (PPE) to vessel access, lone work scenarios, and the safety requisites for the international transportation of samples.

  • 15:30 Human behavioural aspects of Safety: When discussing safety, there is one fundamental element: understanding that safety revolves around people and comprehending the key human behavioral aspects of safety. This conference session aims to provide an engaging discussion that unites diverse perspectives from stakeholders in the petroleum and inspection industries concerning safety development and improvement, with a focus on keeping the human element at the center. Additionally, a workshop session will be led by Julian Wilson, Senior HSSE Strategist at Shell, who will actively involve all participants in discussions and live decision-making exercises, highlighting the central role of human behavior in safety.
