Join us on Tuesday 24 October, as part of Cyber Awareness Month, for an online event organised by TIC Council. We'll delve into the current European cybersecurity regulatory landscape, and discuss the changes needed to optimise cyber resilience and protect the individual from cyber attacks.
In 2023, hackers have posed an ever-increasing threat, with a notable surge in the landscape of cyber threats and the impact of cyberattacks globally. According to Cybersecurity Ventures, the cost of cybercrime is predicted to hit $8 trillion in 2023 and will grow to $10.5 trillion by 2025. This surge is fuelled by the rapid growth of the data economy and the proliferation of sophisticated connected devices.
In recent years, European institutions have made digital technology, and in particular cybersecurity, a strategic imperative, resulting in the development of a European and global strategy and a complex body of regulations. As the EU aims to establish itself as a benchmark for robust cybersecurity standards, the global impact of these policies remains of the utmost interest.
The proliferation of the digital and cybersecurity regulatory environment has led to greater complexity and new challenges, given the evolving nature of cyber threats. We are at a critical juncture where it is essential to critically evaluate our existing framework and explore new ways of addressing these challenges.
During the event, our speakers will:
- Comment on the EU Cybersecurity framework, including the Cyber Resilience Act, Radio Equipment Directive delegated Act, Cybersecurity Act framework and associated certification schemes.
- Discuss the various measures that need to be put in place to increase the degree of cybersecurity that consumers can expect from the EU Single Market,
- Exchange best practices between cybersecurity experts
- Draw learnings in order to enhance global cybersecurity.
